What companies should i look into?
Any good suggestions from your own personal experience?

as far as companies, they are all pretty similar, what is more important is, what kind of security you want. for instance, if you are more concerned about someone breaking in when you are not home, you can just get interior motion detectors in some of the areas of your home. but if you are concerned about being harmed in your home, you want to have all perimeter protection, meaning all doors and windows. and lastly, if you are just getting the system for the insurance discount, be sure to get a smoke detector for the highest discount. There are two choices for companies, local and national. national would be adt, brinks, etc. they are what i call the fast food of the alarm industry in that they install about three systems a day and are very rushed when installing them which usually causes repeat service calls and false alarms for you. i strongly reccommend a local alarm company for so many reasons. i have worked for both types.
Buy a shot-gun!
