"The proposal being advanced would see the International Monetray Fund, first created at Bretton Woods, given only limited new surveillance powers, and instead see the lead global role go to a little-known organization that had a short and inauspicious existence before becoming the main forum over the last year for financial chiefs to debate ideas, hammer out differences, and appeal to other countries for joint action.

Known as the Financial Stability Forum, the organization has a tiny staff based in Basel, Switzerland, and currently draws all its authority from its membership of finance ministries, central banks, supervisors and regulators from an eclectic mix of countries and territories first brought together by the Asian financial crises, from Canada and the U.K. to Singapore and Hong Kong.

It has acted in the last year as a workshop where financial chiefs have rolled up their sleeves behind closed doors and tried to figure out what to do in the face of the kind of financial crisis that occurs once in a lifetime.

"The Financial Stablity Forum has stepped up," said one central banker.

Several of the recent market interventions by Ottawa have their genesis in meetings of the FSF, while banks have worked closely with the body.

"I think the FSF is a very viable vehicle," said the head of a Canadian bank.

But one of the first tasks in preparing the FSF for its new expanded role is widening its membership to include the big emerging economies, he said.

"We need China, Russia, Brazil at the table because that is where the growth is," said the Canadian bank head.

An IMF official told the Financial Post that the stability forum was likely to expands it membership long before the monetary fund reformed an outdated quota system that gives European nations disproportionate representation on its board at the expense of fast-growing economies.

The official said the chance of a sudden breakthrough at the IMF seemed remote, and indicated the momentum for a radically new role for the fund had dissipated.

So what would this mean for the US?

And given the huge problems just our central bank the Fed has created through monetary policy against individual citizen interest, are Americans benefited by removing policy even further from impact by the common man?

Ok, zombies will, eventually, become a real threat, and when that day comes we will all need to have an escape route. My plan is to arm myself in a light fashion in order to take the fastest and most secure route to a harbor, where I will find a boat. From there I will navigate my way to a remote island with enough wood and space for me too live for a while. I will also, of course, circle the island a couple of times and keep it under surveillance for a couple of days before "landing" there, in order to make sure it isn’t already inhabited by zombies. I will then make myself a home there, eating fish and whatever vegetables and plants that I find on the island. I will get water from rain and seawater that has been boiled and "cleaned" from salt.

After a year or so I figure that the zombies will have died from starvation, so then I will leave my haven on the island and return to the mainland. Before actually landing I will survey the shore in order too make sure that it doesn’t have any zombie infestation, and thus I will have survived the event. If the place still is infested I will just return to my island and come back later to check again.

Logically the zombies wouldn’t be able to swim or drive a boat. Perhaps they would be able to reach my island by walking on the seafloor, but I find this very unlikely as their lunges and stomach would fill up with water and eventually burst. Besides, why would they even try to get there, as they probably wouldn’t know that I was there?

It is my firm belief that an island really is the place to be during a sudden zombie infestation, because that is the one place they might not be able to reach. All other places is within their ability to get to, so if any place is safe then that would the island.

Besides the risk of starvation or death by thirst, and in some cases the risk of freezing to death, I really do not see any flaws in this plan once I reach the sea and find the secure island. But have I missed anything? And do you have a better suggestion?

I’ve been looking at newegg.com item numbers N82E16881338033 and N82E16881192134. Any thoughts? I’d like to have 30fps per camera. I need four cameras minimum and six max. We also wish to have remote viewing capability with possible phone compatibility.

What do you do to keep yourself safe during holiday shopping season?

•Park in a well-lit area as close to your destination as possible. Parking lots and structures are typically the most dangerous places at the mall. If you are shopping alone and feel uncomfortable walking to your car at night, ask mall security officers for an escort. Consider valet parking during the holiday season when many malls offer free or reduced price valet parking. Look for security cameras and try to park near them. Also, opt for walkways leading to malls and parking lots that have security cameras installed.

•Choose to do your holiday shopping at malls that take security seriously. Shopping destinations with regular mall security patrols and visible surveillance cameras provide an added layer of security and a deterrent to criminals.

•Take extra care when returning to your car. If you notice anyone suspicious in the parking area you can use your keys as a weapon. If needed, you can also use your car’s alarm system by pushing the panic button on your alarm remote control or car horn to draw attention.

Seriously, I’ve seen NOTHING about this, yet in 2000 a joint CIA-Pentagon effort was agreed to locate Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. hey there i was just curious because i know they have land surveillance robots with webcams and sensors etc… but i can’t seem to find a flying one, i dont imagine it being that difficult of a task i wish for it to be able to do the following things but just flying and the webcam are what matters

-fly
-webcam connect via pc
-wifi/ bluetooth?
-sensor not to hit objects?//auto follow
-solar panels/wings
-auto dock option for recharge
-remote control// pc control

then of course any random things that would come along with it would be awsome to ^_^

I\’m trying to find a camera like the EVI-D100 but smaller. Key features being its 10x optical zoom, physical remote control, S-video capture (Although firewire and USB are fine as well,) and PTZ. It\’s way too bulky for what I need it for but alas no matter how much I search I find expensive, bulky surveillance cameras.

I have tried hooking up my camcorder via Firewire, however the capture area is about two thirds of the size of my Logitech 9000 and this is unacceptable even if I set it up to PTZ because we’ll be using it to capture things between 3 and 10 feet away.

Do you have any suggestions?

I’d highly prefer to keep the price under 200usd, but can go up to 500 if I must.

Oh and it only needs 320×240, so finding one cheap shouldn’t be hard but I can’t seam to discover one.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – U.S. Border Patrol agents say they apprehended more than 110 illegal immigrants in two separate incidents in southern Arizona.

Acting on a tip from a resident about a possible drop house, agents found 44 illegal immigrants inside two trailers Monday in east Douglas. Authorities say the 35 men, five women and four children were all from Mexico.

Also on Monday, agents apprehended 67 illegal border crossers in a remote area south of Arivaca and close to the Mexican border. The group was spotted by a mobile surveillance system.
