How does motion detector work?

ok you buy motion detector for home. what do you do it with it? how does it work? For example if I am not home and detector detects motion how would I, or somebody else will be notified? do I have to get special service for it? or I can sync it with my cell phone?

A motion detector is normally connected to an alarm circuit and gives a signal when it senses motion. They can also be connected to lights.
Unless your detector has extra circuitry to enable it to communicate with a cell phone or computer then it won’t be much use on its own without an alarm system.
