Does this have to be caused by a person or can it be nature? As in wind, etc?

A dog, cat, raccoon, deer, etc. can trigger it.
The wind blowing clothes on the line, moving tree limbs (even in a neighbours yard) etc. Also depending which way the sensor is pointed, cars passing on the street may trigger it on.
I know it can be scary when the light comes on and you do not know why, but they are a good deterrent to prowlers, who generally leave when the light comes on.
wind by a tree limb movement, cat, dog, anything that may move.
try setting your sensitivity lower may help
Most motion detectors have a sensitivity adjuster knob on the unit. If its adjusted too high, even wind will set it off. Check it out, and turn it down a bit.
check where your sensor is pointed. cars and headlights will do it if it’s pointed at the street. I agree about other answer too…cat, dog, debris, etc. All will set it off.
There must be something physical to trigger the motion detector. Is it possible the detector is pointed so that it detects someone walking on the street/sidewalk in front of your property? As the first answerer said, adjust the sensitivity of the motion detector.
your light will go off when there movement in front if it, that why they call it a motion detector light. if you didn,t went to come on all the time put a swicth on the line
Just about anything will set it off if it’s set sensitive enough. I used to take late walks in my neighbourhood and walking down the street would set most of them off! As mentioned before, tree limbs, cats, dogs, raccoons, skunks anything that moves can light up your lights!
