Is it immoral of us to euthanize race horses when they can no longer race b/c we don't want to incur adt fees?

We pump them full of drugs, beat them, starve them, push them before their skeletal systems have developed- and in the end if they get hurt, they’re euthanized because honors don’t want to incur any more fees like vet bills or sending them to live on a farm being a stud horse. It just doesn’t seem right to me.

yes its immoral and yes they do hurt their horses. they want to make $ so they make these horses do insane things and like the lady said that its against regulations there are always ways to get around the rules and these money mongers have figured out how.
it costs like 50k a month to send them to go be a regular ole horse just looking pretty on a farm even if the animal has made them loads of money they refuse to do that for them because theyre cheap. isntead they put it down and then go out and buy another horse and as soon as that one breaks they buy another one. horses are treated like toys, as soon as it breaks they rush to the store to buy one more. they are millionaires because they invest. spending money on a broken horse isnt going to increase their income, its unnecessary funds for them so they arent going to pay to make it well. figure thousands of dollars to help the animal get better but not near quality to race, just quality enough to live or a couple hundred bucks to shoot it and turn it into dog food they can sell to Alpo.
When that is the case, I agree.
it right if it puts them out of their misery.
The problem with broken legs in horses isn’t that they don’t want to incur fees, most of the time.
If a horse’s leg is broke, it’s incredibly hard to heal because in order to heal properly, a horse must not bear any weight on it, which isn’t possible because of how they’re built. THis requires suspending them above ground in a hammock for months at a time, and even then a horse will have lifelong pain most of the time.
Race horses are also not beaten, in most cases, and pumping them full of drugs is against racing regulations.
Please do some research before you make assumptions and ask questions like these. PETA’s website is not a reliable source.
I am always amazed that we care more about animals than we do the unborn.
It is less immoral than doing it to humans, like Terry Shiavo for instance.
Actually, I have a friend that knows a lot about equine health and she told me that race horces have a very hard time healing from injuries and they sometimes never recover. They suffer a lot of pain as a result and their quality of health becomes very poor. My friend is completely against racing horses for the very reason, that likelihood of injury is high and their degree of pain sustained from race-realted injuries is great. The people that put the horses down don’t usually do it because of increasing vet bills. These people are millionaires. They can afford a few vet bills. They just don’t want their horse to suffer. However, I think it’s inhumane that they put them in such a dangerous sport in the first place.
