Yes…you can stream the Video over the internet…
Very easy if they have an always-on connection at the cabin. There are some cameras that offer remote control/pan/zoom. it can be shared using Windows Media Encoder, or probably software bundled with the camera
The best way to do it would be over the internet. You will need the following things.
1. A high speed connection
2. A static IP address(you buy this from the ISP)
3. A IP camera or a regular camera and a Video Webserver
You could also buy a DVR that is networkable. That way you can record and see them over the internet. I know a place that carry’s all the equipment. Click the link below. Security Cameras Direct has great products at about the lowest price I know.
All of the suggestions are "Mickey Mouse" methods of achieving a true remote access capability of a security camera.
First off, your security camera will have to be a "day/night" CCTV camera which provides the capability to see in both daylight and very low light. Along with the camera, you’ll need a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) that can not only store the video, but transmit it remotely over the internet. You want to be able to view not just live video, but also recorded video. There are many security DVRs on the market that provide remote access using nothing more then your internet browser. With smaller hard drive DVRs, you could plan on spending a few hundred dollars to have video storage, and remote access. A high speed connection will be required at the cabin in order to send the video to wherever you want to view it. If you need suggestions of product and where to buy it, feel free to send me a message.
