I live in an apartment with my girlfriend. I work at a bar late on the weekends, often leaving her home alone until I am done with my shift early in the morning. We have a deadbolt locked door into our apartment but the door is older and our neighborhood is somewhat questionable. What would be the best security system for keeping her safe while I’m at work. It has to be something that will not sound when I get home from work, waking the neighbors. Hoping to not spend a ton of money or having to wire something. Any advice would help…

My property manager just notified all apartment tenants that tomorrow the fire alarm will be tested on and off throughout the day. My 6 month old kitten/cat will be home all by herself (I’ll be at work), and I’m worried she’ll be scared and it will hurt her ears. Is there anything I can do to prepare her better?

My neighbor is putting up a surveillance camera and since both of our apartments are in the corner, it is aimed directly on my yard. My younger sister loves to go outside and now I feel someones watching her and some of the other neighbor’s kids. My apartment complex has a lot of restrictions, too. This apartment complex isn’t very ‘wealthy’ and they can only afford one surveillance camera, so I know they didn’t ask him to put it up. I was just wondering is it legal for him to put up the surveillance camera aiming at my yard?

Im purchasing a home in 2 months. Meanwhile my apartment was broken into and my second vehicle was stolen via my spare key which was hidden in my apartment. My losses for the apartment are around ,000 and my vehicle carried full coverage and is valued at ,200. If i make an insurance claim to cover my losses, when i buy my home would my homeowners insurance rates suffer from these two big claims?

I want to surprise her when she comes home from work and have candles going up her stairs through her kitchen and onto her balcony with a bottle of champagne and cake waiting. There will be 20-25 small candles in her apartment and I’m afraid the fire alarm will go off bc of the smoke. Her place is pretty big–about 600 square feet. Anyone think the fire alarm won’t go off if I space them out enough? Or any other ideas to lead her into the balcony? I would say rose petals (which there probably will be in addition to whatever I have), but I want to have some source of lights besides the overhead…Thanks for your input!

I live in a neighborhood where that’s happened a few times recently, where the people were either killed or injured. I live in an apartment and I have a handgun next to my bed and several other weapons, but I’m still terrified of the idea of someone breaking into my home. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had that happen to them, what exactly happened, what weapons the attackers had, and what the best means of self defense might be, and what some good things to do might be in case that happens. i want to break stuff!!! I am hiding my anger but there is a beeping noise in my building…the noise has been for a while but at 1st I didnt noticed it. it turns out that its from a fire alarm- it is installed right next to my apartment. the thing beeps like every 10 seconds..I hate it!!!! I want to ask the super about it but I feel bad since I am the only one who seems to notice…

It is frustrating..to a point that when I am home I spend the day playing music loud on my comp…
well not angry but its frustrating ….and to make matters worst i cant focus on my school work with the darn thing…

I want to find out if my landlord is coming into my apartment unannounced and unwanted. Sometimes it seems as though things are not where I left them.

I would like a good-functioning nanny cam for my apartment. I would like to keep the cost down but I don’t want to sacrifice quality.

Has anyone ever tried out those bears with hidden cameras? Or have you tried any other sort of hidden camera equipment? I am interested in something with a motion sensor.
