I’m interested in installing a home security system, but am unsure about which kind to get. I keep coming across a company called Protect America that has good prices but I see bad reviews on the Better Business Bureau website. Any opinions about this company compared to ADT, Brinks, or Life Shield? Opinions please. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant with our first child. I’m interested in installing one soon. Thanks.

My condo is pre-wired for security monitoring (like ADT, brinks), but the service isn’t actually included in the association fees (meaning I’d have to pay for it myself).

What else can I do with the system? I’d like to be able to get some level of security out of the system. Is there a free service I could use? Or can I buy something that would automatically do the 911 call if the alarm goes off?

We are moving to a new house and going to be calling around for a bid on a security system. I know it’s not going to be cheap because we need about 6 doors, 6 windows, and probably 2 motion detectors for the house. My question is if the large companies are better to stick with such as ADT or Brinks, or are the smaller local companies just as good, worse, or better?

Hi everyone….I HAD dusk/dawn flood lights but decided to swap one of them out for motion sensor type. I bought the one for 180* radius (Brinks) and am about out of my MIND! It either triggers over every little thing or not at all, even if I haven’t changed the sensitivity on it. I have a unique situation that I’m trying to have it bypass the backyard (with the dogs inside that with their constant running around would make the darn thing look like a giant blinking christmas light all night) I need it to monitor the driveway. It seems like it’s not reaching out far enough. Should I get a higher radius or different brand? Or do all of these things work about the same regardless of radius or brand? Thanks.

Most of us now relied on our cell phone more than the house phone like old days. Eventually the house phone just sit at home to collect dust. Basically I do not wish to wasted a month on something I will no longer use. In fact, I do want to install a home security system that doesn’t required traditional phone line. Yet still be able to monitor the house 24/7 at their headquarter. Will notify the police, fire dep, or ambulance.
Beside ADT or Brinks. Are there any Wireless Home security system out there is trustworthy? I saw uControl online but never heard or know anyone use it before.

So please if anyone out there could help .. let me know!
