There is a burglar alarm from Brinks in the home that I am planning on purchasing. I was wondering if these types of systems will generally work without a subscription. I am hoping I will be able to set it and have it go off if someone tries to break in, but I’m not expecting it to contact Brinks, obviously. Does it normally work this way?

I am using a 12 volt Honeywell PIR sensor, like the type you get in a burglar alarm.

Basically, I have wired up the PIR so that when it detects something, a 12 volt Volvo relay will switch, and activate another device.

The only problem with this is that the relay I am using draws 210 Milliamps through the PIR, and the PIR is only rated at 90 Milliamps. Consequently, the PIR gets rather hot, and eventually, I managed to burn one out because I left it on for too long.

Is there any way to reduce the 210 Milliamps going through the PIR to something more in the reigon of 90 milliamps, to prevent this from happening? Perhaps by using another component?

I am renting out my house to a difficult tenant. They have changed the code to the burglar alarm, and are refusing to reveal it to me. I’m concerned that if I need to gain entry into my house, that I will set off the alarm.

Bought a home with a burglar alarm. It has no power because it’s not connected to any power. The a/c (power) wire goes from the panel into the wall along with a bunch of other wires that look the same, so the power supply has to be going to somewhere in the house but where is a good place to look? Ive gone into the attic but since all the wires look the same up there i can’t follow every single wire.

The battery in my burglar alarm for my house died. I ordered the same battery(SLA1075) that I took out of the system, however when I received the battery, I noticed the slight difference. The old battery said 12V 7.3AH, while the new battery says 12V 7.5AH. Everything else is the same. Will the replacement work?

I live in a rented house. Every now and then I wonder if we should have a fire alarm and / or burglar alarm. But since it isn’t our house I can’t really get one installed. Is there such a thing as a simple home security system you can use for a short time in a rental property? And that doesn’t require lots of drilling or wire running?

…and all of the smart people, why do we still have governments, such as cities, that cry and complain about low funds and not enough money and raising taxes?

20 years ago, I thought that our future would gain a lot from all of this wisdom and such. We are deeper in the hole.

I think maybe they see the surface (the politicians) and don’t know how to save money. Spend it all now and worry about tomorrow… …well, tomorrow. My 9 year-old kid knows better.

An old city like mine has old plumbing and bridges. Heh, they all "go" at the same time, yet nobody sees this. I do.

My city has one of the highest wage taxes in the USA, they add an extra annual "occupation TAX". There is an entertainment tax. There are "Household burglar alarm" fees – another tax to protect your home. Soon they may want a Television tax per TV (I’m being sarcastic on this one).

All of my utility bills have extra fees and taxes.

I had a weird dream about a serial killer torturing my family, nothing was able to stop even the burglar alarm. He went in and turned it off. A lot of crimes have been happening in my area. What does that dream mean to me ??? Would it mean someone would break into my house ?? I wasn’t able to call 911 in the dream.
