If a burglar cut all power source to the house, can the alarm be disable ? And, if he cuts the phone line too, the alarm wont be able to call the police even tho it might be running on a battery due to the power cut. So an alarm isn’t that effective in the end, right ?

Let’s say a burglar that’s armed with a hidden pistol invades my house.

It’s at night and I take my wife and my children down quickly down to the basement "safe" area.

I take out my rifle with an infra-red scope, trip off the main electrical switch and go upstairs and shoot the burglar dead.

They find a loaded pistol hidden under his shirt.

Will I be criminally or civilly liable?

Let’s say a burglar broke into my house at night and I kill him by pouring him with gasoline and lighting him on fire.

Let’s say also that we were struggling (fighting) in the garage and I was desperate and poured the gasoline on him and he still came after me, so I took out my lighter and he burst into flames.

I know it’s stupid scenario but was thinking about this situation.

the burglar hasnt injured anyone and is in the process of exiting your home, would you shoot the person just to stop them from fleeing? could you be arrested for shooting the person burglarizing your home whenthey didnt harm anyone? as long as everyone in my home was okay i dont think i would have the heart to shoot a person, but then again i have never been in such a situation to know exactly how i would react. what would you do?

A hypothetical question:

A burglar enters a private property (obviously.. illegally) and a dog, trying to defend the property of its master, attacked the burglary, injuring him severely. There is no "beware of the dog" sign outside to warn people about the dog but this is also the first time the dog attacked someone.

What would be your OPINION regarding what the authorities should do?

Should the owner of the dog be responsible for the injuries a burglar sustained?
Is the dog at fault?

My mom went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and when I was home alone a burglar broke through my window and walked in so I picked up the golf club by the window and hit him has hard as I could in the balls and in the face.
