Frontpoint Security uses cell phone to call cops not telphone wires, but i have never heard of the company before

It happened just a day ago. I am a surveyor for an Internationally known Real Estate company and had to fly to Poland the next day. It was at 11:00 PM I wanted to plunge for an hr of work out before returning back home. Kept my company laptop , wallet , passport , GPS, IPOD in the SUV. SUV was the fitness club parking lot and someone broke my locker and went off with it . Within 15 mins I noticed it and called cops. The fitness club , amongst the premiere fitness clubs in US , puts a disclaimer about loosing stuff in locker being the clients responsibility not theirs . However their security cameras dont even fully cover their own parking lot . Additionally whatever cameras where reviewed of members leaving the gym , could not put a name to the faces of people who left the gym. Per the manager.
I have lost everything. I was totally crippled with no one offered me a ride home for some 40 miles and had to stay awake till 10 am when the bank opened to get some cash out. It took me 2 hrs of waiting , after a sleepness night to get some cash . Then , it took me some 2 additional hrs find a transport back home.
My company MAY FIRE ME for loosing the lap. Because I cannot work on a pvt laptop and get on their network. My trip to Poland had to be canceled. It turned my life upside down.
My question is CAN I SUE THE FITNESS CLUB FOR NOT PROVIDING ADEQUATE SECURITY TO :
<> COVER THE PARKING LOT
<> TO KEEP THE CAMERAS IN SUCH POSITION THAT THEIR FRONT SHOT IS NOT CLEAR ENOUGH THE ESTABLISH THE ID OF THE PERSONS LEAVING THE GYM.
How do I go about getting the right lawyer ? How should I transact with him ( flat / percentage etc ) and HOW much can I sue them for ?
I won full custody of my daughter in the state of Illinois. Her mother moved to Missouri during the hearing with my girl. My lawyer and the judge said all I have to do is take the court order down there and have the local sheriff enforce it. So I went down there, got the sheriff, and went to her house to get my little girl. Her mother was home and shut all the blinds, and locked the doors and never answered the door. The cop said if she doesn’t answer the door, he cannot tell her to release the child. He also said he cannot physically take the child. But if she does answer the door and then refuses to release my girl, then she can be charge with abduction.
So she is in a legal loop-hole here. She will never answer the door to the police, therefore she is not committing a crime. I don’t have very many options since she lives three hours away. I can:
1) stock her apartment until she leaves and goes to a store, then call the cops (that may takes days, and funds I don’t have)
2) pull the fire alarm on the building and wait for her to come out and then call the cops (might get in trouble for that one)
3) kick her damn door open and run in and take my girl (definitely will get in trouble for that)
4) take her to missouri court and get her under contempt (can’t really afford that)
5) call DCFS and make a false report of abuse (can’t do that either cause they will know it’s me that did it when I show up at the door)
So what can I do?
okay so there is this crazy lady where i work. i am a security guard at the main gates at a residential community and i work graveyard shift from 11pm – 7am. my boss has told me/warned me that there is a lady, who lives at the residence, who will sometimes take her clicker and open the gate in the wee hours of the night. it doesn’t scare me because i know its her. i know when someone is coming (there is a surveillance system) and i also know when someone clicks their gate remote because the box receiver is in the post i am in so i hear it click. now it has gotten really annoying lately. she literally spies on me to make sure that i am up and doing my job. she does this repeatedly sometimes up to four times a night! i just want to know, is there anything you guys i suggest i should do about this? i want to mess with her, but i don’t want to get fired. thanks!!
there is a camera set up pointing to the entrance gate and that is the gate she has access to with her clicker. however, there is no camera that is pointed to the exit gate, so i can’t really see what’s going on there.
there is 2 ways she can come near the guard house: 1) her street 2) the main street
every time i see the gate open, i immediately go outside to investigate, but she is no where in sight!! -_-
the receiver of the remotes is in the guard house, and i can unplug the box to disable any remote activity, but i do not want to risk the fact that anyone could come home at that time and find that their remote isn’t working
oh and sometimes i sleep when no one is around lol.. like from 2am-4am in the bathroom with the light on, and i’m pretty sure she still spies on me
***should i really send the cops to her door?? i don’t want to prank call anyone… let alone risk my job for her stupid ass, either way the cops will have to go through me to get to her… remember i am the one who is at the gate.
Last night someone turned on the water faucet that is behind the shrubs. So, someone had to be scoping out the house my parents or "Mother" called the cops because she believed it was something serious. They found a golf club! Im guessing this person was going to beat whoever came out to check it out but punk out or we waited too long to even know that the water was even on. I heard it but didn’t think much about it and my sister thought it was raining lol.
1) if the power to an ATM machine was cut would it still have the silent alarm
2) what would happen if someone dismemberd the screen and keyboard and camera of an ATM machine by punching it then reached in and took all the money out of it and then drove off?? without entering pin and done in 30 seconds but in an area with no 1 around and at night
3) how could the cops know its you if number two happend
4) NO I AM NOT GOING TO TRY THIS i saw it in a tv show and was wondering if it was possible
Ok so we are moving next month into a house that we will be renting. Unfortunately, ADT & Brinks dont let renters use their services…which is ok because we dont plan to rent the house forever, so their products would probably be a waste of money anyway.
Ive been online FOREVER it feels like, looking for a home security system we can install ourselves. Ive heard wireless is the easiest way to go? We just dont want to have to pay a professional to come out and do it. I have NO idea how to find what Im looking for or what products actually do what we want them to do. So Im hoping that maybe somebody can steer me in the right direction if I describe what I hope to find…..
Like I said, wireless would be great. I want something not too difficult to use….we would like to be able to monitor all the windows and doors in the house (there isnt very many). And MOST OF ALL, I want something LOUD. Id want the siren/alarm to be able to be heard from the next door neighbors houses….I figure, if the alarm isnt very loud, what good does it do? Im hoping that if (God forbid) anyone ever tried to break in, the alarm would scare them away if they know everyone can hear it and cops may very well be on their way….
I have a 4yr old son and I want to do anything I can to assure a sense of safety in our house.
Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. Does anybody know of a system that I should purchase?

The city I live closed to wants to install surveillance cameras in areas notorious for drugs and crimes. I live in the suburbs buy I still have an opinion on this. Even though this issue doesn’t directly effect me I steal think it is wrong for many reasons. Our local law officials feel that these cameras will deter criminal activity. I think not it will only move it to another area. I don’t see how camera will drive down crime. Cameras can’t take the place of the police. My city is steady laying off officers. With less cops on the streets there is no real deterrent. Besides how good are security cameras at night? If these cameras are not monitored constantly how is that going to stop crime, especially if you are unable to clearly identify a suspect. Are there cameras out there that can get a clear picture at night? All the one I have seen on T.V. or even at work don’t really show good images, especially night time images. What makes this project even worse is that our city wants local business to pay for the cameras, and on top of that the business will have no choice on where the cameras will be put. These cameras will be placed in inner city neighbor hoods where is a lot of crime activity. I would like your opinions on this. And I would also like to know if there are any security cameras that have the ability to capture good clear images at night.
I live on an army base. Yesterday a huge fire "broke out" in the woods behind my neighborhood, right by my house. It was pretty large. Some of the other people from the neighborhood were saying they saw some kids running off from there. I chalked it up to them messing around smoking cigarettes or whatever, until I talked to the MPs. They told me there’d been another fire on the other side of the woods last week. An hour after the fire dept. and cops left the fire started up again-except it wasn’t in the same spot. It was even closer to my home this time. At first I thought it had just started up again on its own, but when I walked back there to look, there was a five foot space between where the last fire had been, and where the new fire was. Then today-surprise! A fire at the woods across the street. I was already alarmed at knowing there had been a fire last week nobody seemed to know about, and the fact that the fire had mysteriously started itself again yesterday. I called up to the MP station and pretty much asked them what the hell is going on? They said not to worry, they had it under control. I asked if they knew how the fires were being started, and they told me accidentally?? Three fires in woods around homes in a week and this is an accident? WTF?? There is NO WAY. Why aren’t they more concerned? I’d like to know if there’s kids so malicious living around me that they enjoy starting fires close to homes. What can I do about this? We’ve had other incidents such as cars being broken into and things stolen, someone trying to get into locked doors, etc. This has all happened in the past two months. Why is this not serious to them? If my family isn’t safe living on an army base where are they safe? Geez!!!
My husband insists we’re not allowed to have personal weapons on base, even though we know several people who have their own. I’d feel much safer if we did, but he won’t let me. What if it’s crazy adults and not crazy kids ya know?
