brinks Home security…Alarm goin off?

We recently had to get an alarm on our home. We believe our neighbors keep breaking in our home, 3 times in dec last yr. 1 time in Jan this yr….maybe 2 times like a few yrs b4 that too..then we got Brinks in the end of JAN this yr. They stopped but in the last 2 months, the alarm been goin off, maybe false alarm, i don’t think so. Brinks been telling me that whatever been setting it off is in the dining area, which is where i walk in the front door. but nobody has broken in the house again yet. But every since those ppl broke into my home several times, i have had people watch my house, drive by jus to check. twice, 2 people told me they saw the same people, same description in my yard while i’m at work, this was the same day it went off also. What are they doin to set off my alarm without breaking into my home? i got every window covered, i have, door, everything. i jus don’t get it.

99% of the time. If they don’t want to take their shoes off, they have the option of putting plastic bags over their shoes. The only exception was the fire department. That won’t be all that practical. Although one time, a fireman took his boots off-lol. He was very considerate, because he said my home is very nice. I was surprised. By the way, it was a false alarm with the CO detector.

Firefighters poem
WISH YOU COULD…

I wish you could see the sadness of a business man as his
livelihood goes up in flames or that family returning home,
only to find their house and belongings damaged or destroyed.

I wish you could know what it is to search a burning bedroom
for trapped children, flames rolling above your head,
your palms and knees burning as you crawl, the floor
sagging under your weight as the kitchen beneath you burns.

I wish you could comprehend a wife’s horror at 3 a.m.
as I check her husband of forty years for a pulse and find none.
I start CPR anyway, hoping against hope to bring him back,
knowing intuitively it is too late. But wanting his wife
and family to know everything possible was done.

I wish you know the unique smell of burning insulation,
the taste of soot-filled mucus, the feeling of intense heat
throughyour turnout gear, the sound of flames crackling,
the erieness of being able to see absolutely nothing in dense
smoke – sensations that I have become too familiar with.

I wish you could understand how it feels to go to school
in the morning after having spent most of the night
hot and soaking wet at a multiple alarm fire.

I wish you could read my mind as I respond to a building fire,
"Is this a false alarm or a working breathing fire? How is the
building constructed? What hazards await me? Is anyone
trapped?" Or to an EMS call, "What is wrong with the patient?
Is it minor or life-treating? Is the caller really in distress
or is he waiting for us with a 2×4 or a gun?

I wish you could be in the emergency room as a doctor
pronounces dead the beautiful little 5 year old girl that I have
been trying to save during the past twenty-five minutes who
will never go on her first date or say the words,
"I love you, Mommy" again.

I wish you could know the frustration I feel in the cab engine,
the driver with his foot pressing down hard on the pedal,
my arm tugging again and again at the air horn chain,
as your feel fail to yield right-of-way at an intersection or in
traffic. When you need us, however, your first comment upon
our arrival will be, "It took your forever to get here!"

I wish you could know my thoughts as I help extricate a girl of
teenage years from the mangled remains of her automobile,
"What if this were my sister, or a friend?
What were her parents’ reactions going to be as they opened
the door to find a police officer hat in hand?"

I wish you could know how it feels to walk in the back door
and greet my parents and family, not having the heart to tell
them that I nearly did not come back from the last call.

I wish you could feel my hurt as people verbally, and sometimes
physically, abuse us or belittle what I do, or as they express
their attitudes of, "It will never happen to me."

I wish you could know realize the physical, emotional and
mental drain or missed meals, lost sleep and forgone social
activities, in addition to all the tragedy my eyes have viewed.

I wish you could know the brotherhood and self-satisfaction
of helping save a life or preserving someone’s property, of
being there in times or crisis, or creating order from total chaos.

I wish you could understand what it feels like to have a little
boy tugging at your arm and asking, "Is my Mommy okay?"
Not even being able to look in his eyes without tears from your
own and not knowing what to say. Or to have to hold back a
long-time friend who watches his buddy having rescue breathing
done on him as they take him away in the ambulance.
You know all along he did not have his seat belt on-
sensation that I have become too familiar with.

Unless you have lived this kind of life,
you will never truly understand or appreciate who I am,
what we are, or what our job really mean to us.

I wish you could…
I want to be a firefighter so much that when i read this i want to be a firefighter that so much more, also it brings a tear to my eye if how underestimated firefighters are

What was that like? a family relative called for medical help for our home when my grandma was living with us, she didnt even tell me she was feeling sick, i just got a call from one of her friends saying that she called an ambulance, i was like WTF? Another time was when my dad thought he was having a heart attack so they sent a bunch of ambulances and fire trucks, literally clogged the whole neighborhood on a false alarm.

I was sitting on the computer looking at some stuffs when all of a sudden the burgular alarm went off and it told me it was my front bedroom window so I immediately called 911 and notified the police about the situation. This is not the first time this has happened because the same thing has happened last week. But when they brought in the K-9 dogs to sniff around the places i said i saw the burglars ran they said they founded no trace of people at all. The Lieutenant officer then said he thinks it’s something wrong with the burglar alarms system and requested me to tested it. How come they think it’s a alarm malfunction when i saw someone ?? Do you they think I’m playing false alarm games ?? I was home alone when that happened and i feel like no one believes me of what i saw. It has happened multiple times this past few weeks and I don’t know what is going on right now.
What could I do to make them believe me there was people trying to break in ??? My stupid digital camera ran out of batteries when I tried to take pictures of the burglars on the outside of my house.

1. Did the patient in the ambulance die?
2. Was it a false alarm and they were called in to forget about it?
3. Did the siren go silent because the driver was at his destination?
4. Do they sometimes use the siren to move the traffic along out of the way?
5. Do ambulances have to follow the city ordinances against noise pollution?

In the commercials, they make it look perfect. A home, usually that of a young woman, alone, is broken into by someone who wants to harm/rape her. The alarm goes off, the guy runs, and the police come, and the idea is why would anyone stay on the premises knowing the police are on the way?

But is that really the way it works? The Archilles Heel is that they call you if you don’t shut off the alarm. So they person who more likely has a gun puts it to your head and says "Tell them it’s a false alarm. Now shut off the alarm."

So, really much safer?

How can the fire department know for sure ,especially when theres a huge apartment complex whther or not its real or false alarm? I know this sounds stupid but everytime they come here most times its a false alarm. How can they be sure though that it wasnt an actual fire? Is there something that they have that tells them? I see them come in but sometimes they come in for 5 seconds then say its false alarm. Is there something they check for this?

smoke alarms questions in my townhome?

I recently purchased a townhome and this is how our smoke alarms are set.

I see BRK smoke alarms in most of the rooms and there is one in my basement as well. During my home inspection , they said that my smoke/fire alarms are not connected to firestation. So I am hoping if something goes wrong the alarms will start beeping and I have to call myself a firestation. I see a Fire alarm outside my home which my flash the lights I guess if something goes wrong.

My questions:
==========

1. Are these smoke alarms in rooms are interconnected ?, so if one beeps then it will alert all the alarms in my home ?

2. Is there anyway to turn off the alarms, incase I know if its a false alarm, rather than panicking ?

3. If I have to change the battery on the BRK alarm, can I just open the lid cover on the
front and then change it ? or do I need to shut off something for the whole fire/smoke alarms circuit ?
