The fire alarms in my home are hard wired. When we first moved in 14 years ago, they would chirp for no reason (that we could determine – batteries). About 5 years ago we renovated and put an addition on, doubling the size of our home. We discussed the issue with the electrician who was working on the addition and he said he would look into it. Well, as this was 5 years ago, I really can’t remember what he said, but supposedly everything was ok when he left. Until it wasn’t.
Most recently, the chirping began off and on again. A few months ago, we replaced the batteries on every single alarm and here we are again, the chirping started up again a few days ago.
Does anyone have any idea what else it could be?
Thank you,
Jeanne

Okay , I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I live in a basement apartment . I want to move out , I’ve been looking for a apartment but have had no luck so it looks like I’m probably going to stay here for a while ? :/ but I have small windows , there’s a boiler room down here also . I have fire alarms and a carbon monoxide alarm also . Sometimes there are spiders and centipedes in my apartment too . Sometimes it feels a bit damp down here . My boyfriend smokes in the house but I’m going to ask him to smoke outside from now on so that way the house won’t be so stuffed up with smoke . Is it safe for my daughter to be down here once I have her ?? In the meantime while I’m looking around for a new apartment ?? And if so what could I do to make the environment safer for her ?? Such as humidifiers, windows open 24/7 .. anythingg ?? Please help, I don’t want to harm my baby girl in anyway . I want her living environment to be perfect when she comes home :/ I’m running out of time . Thank you !

I think they should. The robbers love looking for easy targets. If there is no surveillance camera they know they could easily get away with it. The cameras would not only prove who the robber did it, where he went, what he looks like but if the robbery ever actually happened in the first place. This could save lives!
What do you think of this? Is it good? They also require them to have carbon monoxide alarms and fire alarms and phones. So why not surveillance cameras?

About a month ago there was a fire in the town home directly next to ours during which our town home filled with smoke however none of our fire alarms went off we have around 6 I believe and the 3 downstairs and 3 upstairs all are within 5 to 10 feet of each other the company that runs our town homes are responsible for maintenance and when ever they change the air filters in our home twice in the six months since we moved in they have checked the smoke detectors and they supposedly worked but like i said when the house fillled with smoke they didn’t go off fire fighters went through our home and the burned out one next door could we take a legal action towards our town home company because of this?

Do the fire alarms have ink in them, so when you pull it they squirt on you? I was wondering because some idiot kid pulled the fire alarm at school and he put a glove over it.

I just moved into my friends home and realized she has no fire alarms in her home. This is a huge issue for me especially because we have little ones in the house….I thought alarms systems usually have wires attached at the ceiling..Can we install pnes w/out wiring? How do we go about this? I want this issue solved tomorrow.

it starts out with a girl talking about her time in high school whenever a very popular, borderline Perfect, upperclassman dies. then it goes on to say that her death was suicide and that she was in an abusive family. the main character is a sophomore at this high school and doesn’t have a lot of friends and is really shy. then it jumps. it goes to when nicole, the main character, is in college a few years later and she has this dream of the night the "incident" happened. she goes home for the weekend and pushes herself to read her old diary to confront her past. anyway, it jumps back and forth between her as a sophomore in high school and this weekend at her parents’ house. you find out that in the midst of the shock and depression that follows the girl’s death some people chose to cope with their anger by misbehaving (ie: fire alarms, vandalism, acting out) and one day there is a bomb threat. nicole, thinking it isn’t real, doesn’t take it very seriously and goes back into the school to get a jacket while the rest of the students board the buses to evacuate and when she tries to leave she is too late and the buses are gone and the doors are locked. she finds four other kids that got left behind for whatever reason, including the one with the bomb. you find out that he brought the bomb because he feels responsible for Josie’s (dead girl) suicide because he knew that her father abused her and he is pissed at the school for ignoring her death after is was leaked that it was suicide. they go through the whole thing with police and trying to talk the guy with the bomb out of it. they get the kids out, except bomb guy, who blows himself up in the end.
it is written differently than most books because it is in verse like a poem. i had a title: an ending to begin, but i think it is too cheesy and long. i want somethin short and sweet! please help??

oday we spent 3 hours in lockdown mode, because (according to my mom, who called to see what was going on) a boy from the Junior High a block away (I go to the high school) came in and started mouthing off to the office attendent, and said that he was going to "fuk her up" and if she didn’t comply he would trash the school. He texted his brother, who goes to the high school, and he started causing a ton of commosion during passing time, and before we knew it, we were being forced into classrooms. About an hour into the lockdown, the fire alarms started going off, and they continued to do so for about 45 minutes. (I wonder why?)
Should I feel safe attending school tomorrow, or should I stay home?
Oops. 1st word should be "today"

I accidently left my water heater on, it’s the kind with a big tank, where u flip a switch to heat the water, it might have been on for 2-3 days!, i’m a bit worried, is this dangerous? When i got home the bathroom was full of steam and i could hear it boiling loudly. I’ve just switched it off, but i’m still a little worried to even go into the bathroom, as last time when i accidently left it on 7 hours, the thing set all my fire alarms off.
Can i just clarify, my water heater CONTINUALLY boils until i turn it off again.
