Do you have a home alarm system and do you think it’s worth the money? We live in a good area more importantly there is always someone at home next door or across the road. We just had the system installed all doors have sensors not the windows though. Just want to know your thoughts. Thanks

Hello, I currently have a DSC Power632 with a PC1555 keypad home alarm system. I am pleased with it but I would like it to become smarter.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to add a device to my alarm that would be able to send text messages to my phone when the alarm was activated.
If not any alarm system that incorporates text messages sent through my internet connection that does not require pay services or fees.

Are there any alarm systems out there that have an internet connection that will allow email (smtp)? Without going through a pay service allowing me to self monitor?
We just recently got a home alarm system, and I noticed that in our bed room our window is half way up bc we have a window air unit. The alarm was armed and the window wasn’t closed, but if I open a door the alarm will go off. My question is how is this possible? The windows are supposed to be armed as well I thought. Am I wrong, or what’s the deal? Do the windows need sensors too in order for them to be secure? I went through adt, secure watch. Has anyone had this problem as well?
I have just had someone to replace an old sliding door with a new one. The workders did not pay attention to the alarm sensor on the old door and did not put it back. Now I can not set up the home alarm system. How easy is it to re-install the alarm sensor to the new door?
When we moved into the new house it came with a DSC PC1550 home alarm system. We had asked the previous owner to disable it for us permanently but he didn’t know how to either. The problem is it gets very hot in the summer and every time i open one of the windows the alarm starts beeping , about 1-2 seconds of beep every 5-10 minutes. I dont know what the master code is but i did find a grey box in the basement of my house that reads "DSC" on it. It would be GREATLY appreciated if anyone can tell us how to permanently disable this alarm so we dont have to wake up at 2-3am every morning to button mash the keypad to make it stop. Thank you!!!
I have had several bad experiences with break ins and being robbed at gunpoint which have not made me paranoid. I thought that the second time it happened to me surely it would not happen again…what are the chances. For me chances seem to be reall GREAT.
Anyways, I would like to install an alarm system on my house but I don’t really want it hooked up to a local alarm company. I want something that will sound off (like any home alarm system) and scare the intruders away and of course to notify me. My assumption is that there are probably many different systems out there and as I keep reading online I am just running into alarm services.
Anyone have any experience with an alarm system that they installed?
