3 wks ago, I canceled my previous home owners insurance I had for 4 yrs-no claims, to another insurance company. Now, I have water damage to floors and under mobile home-broken sink pipe-I believe this could have happened when I had the first insurance policy, though. My present agent said,"if it happened while you had insurance with them-they should pay and cover it.’
Even though I have canceled that policy? Is this true, please help me.

Alarm salesmen go door to door telling people that if you get an alarm security system monitored, such as ADT, Brinks, ..etc. You can save money on your home owners insurance.
Is there ANY truth or basis for this? If so, how much?
Please, for those who say "yes", be as specific as possible, such as % , or $.

We are moving to New Mexico this june and renting the house that we own. I know that as a renter you can get insurance above and beyond your landlords that will protect your personal belongings, but I wonder if we need to change our home owners insurance for our renters. Does anyone know, or know who would?? Thanks so much!

I am wanting information pertaining to home owners insurance. Will it cover theft of a items that were stolen in my car, or a car being stole literally? Yes I have car insurance BUT I am wondering if homeowners covers anything like this as well. My car was stolen and alot of items were in the car. Thank you. And yes I will call them, but I wanted some other advice from others first.

Looking for a ballpark figure, i need all you insurance guys or gurus to help me out! Its a 1200 sq ft single family house, in zip code 89129. Want a standard deductible. Four rooms would be covered at about 15K a piece. Built in 2003. What would be a ball park figure for home Owners insurance annually?
Thank you all who responded!

I have only owned my home for a year. I got a letter from my mortgage company stating that my payment would go up because my taxes and home owners insurance has gone up. I contacted statefarm to find out why my insurance went up (i was not notified) and was told that the company increased my dwelling coverage. Is this common?

Like when you own a house or buying…you have home owners insurance. It sometimes makes insurance cheaper is you have an alarm system. So would the same thing be possible for a car?

My new house in CA is in a gated community (no guard on duty, but walls and a gate). My house already has a security system built in. Should I pay /month to activate it? Or is it not necessary? (If I activate it, I would get 15% off my home-owners insurance.)
