I own my condo. It was built in the 70′s. A few of my neighbors have had water leaks from the old pipes under the foundation. (It appears that some of the pipes are shared between condos too)… anyway, my main concern is I want to obtain insurance that will cover me if there is water damage and I am reading my policy now. It is so confusing I can’t make heads or tails out of it. It is very ambigious and there are exception clauses throughout the entire policy.
So how do I protect myself? What questions do I ask? I spoke to my insurance agent. Well, he said, water damage is hard to talk about because it depends where it is coming from. If a hydrant is hit by a car, and it floods your condo, you aren’t covered for the damage…… My head is spinning.
I live in San Diego. I have Farmer’s Insurance curently.

My builder of new home quoted me insurance of 0/annually. My agent’s friend quoted 0 (if I change my auto also) but also told me the builder was not including replacement coverage. The written quote from the builder did mention replacement coverage in an HOB. I do not know who to go with. How do I decide?

We are purchasing a home with a composite overlay over cedar shingles. Many insurance companies will not insure the house. Do you know of any that will?

My daughter got a splinter in her foot from my fiance’s hardwood floors. I could not get the splinter out myself as it was about 2 inches long and about as thick as a toothpick (pretty thick as splinters go i think). Well, I ended up having to take her to the emergency room (we don’t have an urgent care anywhere nearby and this was a saturday). I just got the bill and it’s 0. my question is this: would my fiance’s homeowner’s insurance cover this? and if so, would it cause his homeowner’s premiums to be increased?

Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will let you pay your homeowner’s insurance in installments? We’ve owned the home for 5 years now and we missed the deadline on our last policy.

this is a really dumb question, but I think my garage roof may cave in soon in a specific area. not a huge area and the shingles are falling off. Would homeowner’s insurance cover any of this if it does ‘cave’ in that spot?

Hi everyone – I’m not sure if anyone can help me, but I thought I’d ask here…
I’m in school and an artist (in CA) a new project I’m working on depicts the recent wildfires and the people dealing with the aftermath (the good the bad and the ugly)
I had the idea of one of the structures of the piece being a home, but made out of strips from a homeowners insurance policy (paper mache of sorts) HOWEVER – I don’t own a home (literal starving artist here) and really don’t know anyone who does -
sooo, I was wondering if anyone who has a home and a policy, or an insurance agent even, would be willing to scan and e-mail me a policy (important info blacked out obviously) or if it is a blank form, watermarked up the hilt to ensure it can’t be utilized in any other manner…so that I can complete my vision…

My husband and are in the process of purchasing a small home. We are seniors living on a fixed income and have to watch every penny. We have two weeks to find the homeowners insurance and they all seem to be so high in price. Does anyone have any ideas how we find an affordable homeowners insurance?
