We just purchased a home in foreclosure that has a 1/2 hp Liftmaster garage door opener. We did not get any garage door openers at closing. We are going to buy replacements, but I was wondering if the previous owners, for whatever reason, would they be able to access our garage still? We have had the locks re-keyed, but our concern is for our property inside the garage. Thanks!

My sister has a newer Honda Civic that was recently broken into. Her ignition is out of whack now because they tried starting the car with (what we’re assuming) a screwdriver. She cannot afford an expensive alarm system, but needs to do something. Does anyone know of anything she can install to possibly scare someone away if they do get in again?

(She has manual locks so it’s very simple to get into)

I want home automation and security?

I have an old brinks bhs-4000a system in my house and I was think of taking that out and put a system in where i can hook up all the door/window/PIRS/smokes/ etc. up and then hook up relays to lights, A/C, mag locks, dorr latches and other devices to turn on and off. I would also like to get a mic and speaker to do 2 way and ptz cameras and record temperature or if there is flooding (inputs that are digital for sure but analog would be nice but analog is NOT a must). I want a system that can hook up to my computer or the network/internet so I can control devices via the web and get text messages (or emails about troubles and alarms) and have many zones like 40 to 100.

What would be the best way to do this? What brands and products would work best? Cheaper the better but I do under stand that I may have to pay $$$ to get what I want. I’m an experienced electrician and just started in the electronics systems industry. I can program about anything (may take me some time but I’m a fast learner and can figure out about anything (with some help of people I know))

Thanks in advance.

I cant figure it out, but we need to do it because the remote locks dont work anymore so we have to use the key to unlock the doors, every time we open the doors after they have been locked, the alarm goes off until you start the car. Anyway to turn it off? I cant find anything in the book.

Why is my jettas car alarm going off for no reason?

Recently my ’99 jetta gl’s car alarm has been going off for no reason. When i get into the car and try to start it the engone does not roll over or anything. Then the locks will close on me and the factory alarm will activate with me in the car. If i try to unlock the door to get out the alarm will activate and the only way to shut it off is to lock the door with the key from the outside. If any1 has any info that could help me out would be greatly appreciated.

Our condo mgmt company is in the process of conducting inspections etc and has informed us they are changing all our locks so they can have a master key to all the units. Their goal being if they want to get in and inspect (electric, fire alarms, whatever) and we are not home to let them in that they can just walk in on their own.

This doesn’t seem right to me. We also have a dog who is home alone during the day, so there is added concern. Whenever there is a notice of inspection we have told them when we can be home for the inspection, but the impression we are getting is a master key will be made anyway and they may enter our unit with or without our knowledge.

We live in Ontario, Canada…anyone know the condo owners rights in this matter?
To clarify, I am the condo unit OWNER, not a tenant. There is no lease. We, the condo board, hired the management company to concern themselves with common element maintenance and emergency issues.

I was curious to know if a viper alarm system could be used on a 1986 K5 Blazer. Manual locks, although if a viper alarm could be compatible, I was thinking about converting them to electric. Being that it’s old, is there any way one can be used?

Thanks
