Do I Need Medical ID Tags?

I’m planning to ask my doctor about this next time I see her, but I thought I’d throw this out here too.

I’ve had asthma since mid february ’08. It’s mild/moderate persistent [I'm assuming, I've never actually been told by a doctor.] I’m currently taking FloVent HFA 250 mcg two puffs twice daily and Salbutamol [Ventolin/albuterol] HFA 100 mcg two puffs as needed.

Should I consider getting a medical alert bracelet or necklace?
Also, out of curiosity, f you have tags, where did you get them from?
that was supposed to say if :)
Thanks for your advice everyone!
I went to the pet store [haha] and got a tag made this afternoon.
-Name -Asthma -Organ Donor on the front, and four ICE numbers on the back

Plus, it was only :)

Diabetic medical bracelets?

I need to get a medical alert bracelet for my diabetes!
But the most it can cost is like . and I would like it to be mostly if not all metal so it can be waterproof. (because I’ll be going with a water park like everyday in the summer). But I dont want anyone made with beads…. I don’t really care if it is a necklace or bracelet
sorry everybody but what I would like would be links to these. I tried out most ebay stuff…they had most of the same thing

I fully disclosed the fact that I was on disability before I was hired at a major Super Center. When one of my illnesses became an issue every one of the managers denied they knew! I wore a medical alert bracelet to work every day. I’m diabetic and was told today the reason I was approached was because I "appeared to be about to fall asleep on the job".

Diabetes-Medical Alert Bracelet?

So I know it’s important for diabetics to wear a medical alert bracelet, especially those with type 1 because they take insulin daily so they’re more likely to become hypoglycemic. What about people with type 2? Should they wear a medical alert bracelet too?

My mom’s boyfriend is type 1 diabetic and he wont wear a medical alert bracelet because he thinks theyre too feminine. I don’t want anything to happen to the first decent guy she found in 50 years so I want to give him one as a present when we move in with him on the 27. I was thinking along the lines of a watch, or just a manly bracelet. I figure if I gave it to him I could guilt him into wearing it. I can’t order anything off the internet bc my moms afraid of information being stolen so where can I buy one cheap? i dont have a lot of cash. OH and i live in VA in the US

I want to buy a new medical alert bracelet for my son. He is non-verbal, and though he shows his id when he is asked, I’d like him to wear a bracelet with his name, phone number and other information in case he does not have it and is separated from us or a school group. I want large font engraving as he is very active and the last one he had got scratched up and was hard to read. Any one here know a good company to buy one from?
Thanks for the laminating idea! That might work because they can do the really stiff laminating. Putting them on his shoes is a great idea. He has worn a pecs card on a key chain, so he’s used to that too.

I am a heart patient with mitral valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve regurgitation and a dilated aortic valve. I have discussed with my doctor that I am to get a medical alert bracelet that states my name, that i am a heart patient and then my Cardiologists name and office number. I forgot to ask him if i should include my need for prophylactic antibiotics before different procedures. Do you think I need to include that – or will most Emergency Responders assume that I need antibiotics? If I do put it on there how would i appropriately word it – is "Antibiotic Prophylaxis" the proper term – would just the phrase being on there be sufficient?

I recently found out that I’m 0 negative blood type. I also have severe acid reflux (even with medication the pain caused by the reflux gets so bad I can’t move a lot of the time), a latex allergy and common plant allergies ( light allergic reactions. On allergy medication.) I’m also allergic to milk ,to a certain OTC allergy medication (severe reaction) and I’m immune (not allergic) to amoxicillin. I also get frequent migraines (vision gets blurry with most of them and i feel lightheaded and close to passing out when they happen). I’ve been told by people (some of whom have medical alert bracelets for real medical conditions) that I should get a medical alert bracelet because of having O negative blood (I can only receive that blood type), the latex allergy, the migraines and reaction from them, and the lactose intolerance because I’ve heard some emergency medicines contain milk. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Medical Alert Bracelets?

I am highly allergic to quite a few things, like bee stings, hand sanitizers, cigarette smoke, and a lot of meds(I’m on several medications for several things, but I have a lot of specifications that need to be dealt with when I’m being treated at a hospital or doctors office). Basically, whenever I have an allergic reaction my throat swells up (I’ve passed out before from not being able to breathe) and my aunt (who is the same way with her allergies) told me that I need to get a Medical Alert Bracelet and probably an Epi stick, but I have no idea how to go about this. I klnow that most pharmacies carry them, and that you can look thtem up on the internet and find a bunch of hits, but what do you put on them? Do you have to buy a specific type for each problem? Basically, since I can’t find any really useful links, I am searching for any and all information about them that you could possibly give me. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Oh- and I forgot, should you list the medications you’re on and the dosages?
