I have a "Sears" Craftsman 1/3 horsepower garage door opener, and after a while it has been doing this. It makes a humming noise, but doesn’ t open or close when I press the button on the wall. The sensors are alligned correctly and I took the cover off of it, but I don’t know what could possibly be wrong with it. Can it be the motor? Please help.

I know laws differ from state to state. I stay in AL, I have a viper alarm and the remote sounds an alarm whenever someone has tripped the sensors. My question is I have the alarm on silent mode, which means I can hear it but the guy that’s breaking in can’t. So if i catch him in the act with my gun drawn should I shoot him if he trys to run? Keep in mind I legally own my gun and have a CCW permit.

Battery has failed on one of my door sensors. I tried to open sensor but have been unable to open same. I called ADT and person told me to use my thumb on one side and 2 fingers on other side of sensor. I was to apply equal pressure and sensor case should lift off. I have been unable to open the sensor. I am asked to pay .00 for service call to open sensor to replace battery which seems ridiculous. Help!!!!!!!!.

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue SUV. The back window has a defogger grid and one of the sensors that warm up the grid has come unglued. The sensor itself is fine, I just want to know if I can just glue it back, and if so, what kind of glue would be safe?

Hi there,
What I am looking for is a piece of software that I am able to create a ‘blueprint’ of my home, and add security devices to the ‘map’. Devices such as PIRs, pressure mats, cameras, and magnetic door sensors. I wish for the software to do a few things;
1. Alert and display when a device is activated.
2. Record a certain camera when a specific device is activated (E.G. Porch camera records if porch door sensor activated)
3. Send an email if a device is activated.
I would ideally like this as PC software, and I understand that there will be some hardware involved. Any names or links would be brilliant.
Thanks in advance,
A

Apparently there are changes in level of seratonin in blood before someone commits a crime. Is there ongoing research: so that sensors sense the changes in its level and alert authorities? so it will lead to reduction in crime
Thanks for the Answers. I am not into Medicine so sorry if my logic is faulty.

Some how it seems like the kill sensor’s on my garage door have gotten out of alignment. The garage door will no longer close. You hit the button and it starts down but then it does the flashing light and returns to the full upright position. The garage door came with the house, so I don’t really know what is involved in aligning the sensors. Anyone know how I go about re-aligning the sensors?
Thanks.
The little lights don’t seem to be flashing, but I only saw it on 1 side. It was a solid amber light. I didn’t notice a light on the other side.
Ok, I’ll check the wire on the sensor that I didn’t see the light on tonight. See if it will make a difference. Thanks for the advice!
I’ve found the culprit. Looks like one of the sensor wires got cut. I’ll have to replace the wire and then I should be good to go. Thanks everyone for your input!

My Mother, Brother and I have moved into a house that has an alarm system, but is not set up (also we don’t have a key to the main box, but nothing a locksmith can’t fix), we tried calling around to see if we could have the alarm company that originally set it up to set up the service and get it working, but we can’t find the company who set it up
My question is, if I were to call a different company, like Honeywell, Brinks, ADT, Alarm Force, or some other security alarm company, could they take off the old interface keypads and main box, replace it with their own, and have it work with the sensors currently installed, using the current wiring?
If nobody knows, can somebody tell me what section would be the best to post it? I couldn’t find anything related to home security, so the default choice was this one
