Why do people spend more money on their shoes, than they do on quality locks for their home?

Keep in mind that most homes have .00 locks on the doors. Yet the average home burglary nets the thief almost 2 thousand dollars (or more) worth of YOUR stuff.
Do you have good locks on your place of residence?
or do you rely on "burglar alarms" for protection?
Thanks for your feedback : )

Because their homes are insured and their feet are not
vanity, they would rather look good than be safe.
get a dog
why are you so paranoid?
locks basically stop someone from coming into your home by means of the door. glass windows break very easily. most houses have glass window correct? if someone wants to get into your house they will.
You can’t wear your locks. I use Dexter locks (by Schlage). They are a medium security lock, easy to install and
reasonably priced.
Well I have large dogs so if anyone wants to come in they can meet my Shepards woof. Still have decent locks though Weisers.
Locks are to keep the honest people out. The dishonest ones will find a way in anyway.
If I wear cheap shoes, my feet hurt.

Point taken, but this is a forum for maintenance and repair questions, not to post a survey.
Criminology course 101 in any college will tell you that it makes no difference whether a lock is $15 or $100 lock since the main door is easily pushed in and fails before the lock ever does.
Criminals dont enter front doors, they go thru open windows and doors or a window or door that takes less that 30 seconds to enter or they simply chose another house.
Burgular alarms arent worth much either because a skilled burgular works with lightening speed and in and out in less that 5 minutes and GONE long before you or the Police can ever catch them.
Whats the solution?? Get insurance and quit worring about burglars, its not only cheaper than alarms but its very effective indeed.
I know ! It’s insane right? I have deadbolts but wanted to change them to 2 inch but I found out it’s illegal in the U.S. to have 2 inch deadbolts!
So, instead of shoe-shoppin’ I went home-security shoppin’.
I purchased a very good security system but don’t think I’ll ‘tell all’ on the internet! I’ll only tell part of what I have.
I installed a Lorex ‘Dual Quad Observation System’, with internet remote viewing, and up to 8 color, weather proof, motion activated(if I choose), night vision cam’s with audio and can record 2 months at a time with the DVR.
Why? You ask yourself? Because I dated a ‘good cop’ that turned out to be a ‘bad cop’ and he didn’t like to take "NO" for an answer….or "Good-bye 4-ever" for that matter.
Yep…..I have bad luck……but a really good surveillance system ! And my shoes are very inexpensive by choice.
P.S. Renters insurance is also a good thing to have, and inexpensive!
I THINK I KNOW THIS ONE NO HOME IS SAFE AS LONG AS THERE IS A WINDOW SO LOCKS ONLY KEEP HONEST PEOPLE HONEST THE MORE YOU BUILD UP YOU DOOR THE MORE THE DAMAGE WILL BE TO GET IN AND A TRUE THIEF WILL PICK A WINDOW EVERY TIME I DON’T HAVE A LOCK ON MY DOOR BUT I DO HAVE A WAREHOUSE DOG THAT LOVES TO GET IT ON SHE PINS YOU DOWN AND ALL THAT SHE HAS PINNED IN A CONNER HAVE BEEN REAL NICE AFTER THAT ,,WE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD HAVE A WATCH SYSTEM THAT WORKS AS GOOD AS IT GETS NO ONE GETS BY IT ===SENSOR LIGHTS ===DOGS===AND PEOPLE THAT WORK DIFF SHIFTS SO SOMEONE IS ALWAYS UP IT WORKS GREAT JFB
They do it because:
1. Most builders buy cheap hardware.
2. Bad locks don’t hurt your feet.
3. Locks are for keeping honest people out.
( For protection…..I rely on a shot-gun ).
