Why do police cars put on their sirens when they come to a robbery?
I mean I think it’s good for when you need a person to pull over but in an instance of a robbery at a house, when they reach the house, they put on their sirens and this ultimately alarms the robbers and they run away before the police can find them. Why on earth are police bothering to do that? I think they shouldn’t as this won’t alarm the burglar or the criminal if you want to call it and they can lock them up easy. What do you think?

I got your point. But imagine, a police mobile approaching the crime scene without putting on the siren, wouldn’t the robbers escape for safety even if there is no sound, when they see the police mobile approaching? It is the same whether they put the siren or not, the police are going there so what is the difference of the sound or not?
The sole purpose of putting the siren as loud as possible is because of the traffic along the highway or road going to the crime scene. The police have to zig-zag its way to get to the emergency point. So that ordinary vehicles have to stopped or move to the right side of the road to make way for the police mobile in this situation. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHETHER THE POLICE CAN STILL FIND the robbers or not. As long as they get there as soon as possible is the point of using the siren. If I am the police I would use the siren, just like the movie FAST & FURIOUS to get to the crime scene. Well it is just good if I still could find some of the robbers that is the point of using the siren to wipe out all the vehicles along the way. If none of the robbers is there, then might use the investigative moves and call the forensic team to find evidence.
Police don’t want to alarm the burglars with sirens, so they just use their lights. If they didn’t use their lights, they would not be able to get through traffic quickly to get there as soon as possible. Hope it helped

It is an auditory warning to all motorists and citizens in the area
cause they can’t sneak into the house. and if they scare away the intruder that’s much better than getting into a shootout with them cause you surprised them. most criminals are cowards. and not very bright. so lights and loud noises frighten them.
Depends on the scenario. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. I think you are watching too many cop movies. Anyway….sometimes it might be better to flush them out, then leave them hold up with the possibility of harming a family.
They rush to scene of the crime, so to keep people safe, they turn on the sirens to alert drivers so they dont cause accidents.
Its more important to police to keep innocent motorists safe than to catch burglars.
As stated earlier, it’s mandatory to use it to get through traffic easier.
If they didn’t use the sirens, everything would probably be stolen by the time the cops got there, and the criminals would be gone.
Also, usually the criminals don’t ever get far when there trying to run.
In a B&E (breaking and entering) the criminal is usually-always caught, as there is so much that they leave behind. (fingerprints etc etc)
good question though
well as an ex cop, when enroute to a serious call such as a burglary, the circumstances may require that the responding officers utilize lights n sirens FULL SPEED! the reasons that cops blaze with lights n sirens is that the burglary call may be a 911 WITH OCCUPANTS IE. HOME OWNERS IN THE HOME DURING THE BURGLARY! many many times i have been on burglary runs where the homeowners burglary alarm/protection system was triggered and the 911 call is an elderly person.. this is an all out balls to the wall bust ass to the scene as fast and safely as possible as human lives are at stake. imagine being the victim and your begging the 911 dork on the phone to please get the cops to your home as fast as possible. Trust me, the victims safety takes presedence over apprehending anyone, but at the same time, the cops that get the call may be stuck in traffic at bar closing time. so lights n sirens help them to navigate effectively thru traffic to get to the victims residence, especially on a 911 call. but on the other hand theyre are those alarm trips that alert police thru technology and they may be physical structures like buildings, businesses etc. under those circumstances, theyre would be a silent response, just lights while enroute… the majority of these calls are all BS and routine due to the fact that many people have home burglary systems and trip them on the way home, or there are businesses that have kids that go up and pull on the doors to trigger their alarm systems etc… then their are the burglary cases that are cold, where the owners of the property find out after the fact that their property has been burglarized by forced entry etc….. so next time you see a cop flyin down the road late at night, lights n sirens, he may be just cruisin to save someones life! yours or mine! good luck!
bcuz they r tuff guys sloving a crime
More often than not they will have the sirens going on route to the area, this is to help ensure a safe passage through traffic and to warn road users and pedestrians that they are approaching. If they didn’t have them on then more often than not, people simply wouldn’t get out of the way as they don’t tend to notice the lights. They would normally switch the sirens off when they get nearer the location.
